A love of breadmaking, as craft and as art

Flour, water, salt, yeast. Combined with a person’s hands and heat, these things become bread. Thin bread. Round bread. Light, flaky bread. Dense, chewy bread. Bread is not simply something to fill one’s stomach. It also contains within it the beauty of a moment. It is something which never fails to warm the hearts of those who hold it in their hands. These irresistible qualities are what led to the establishment of the PAMPSHADE creative label, one which pays tribute to bread through craft and art. This is artistic inspiration combined with the living, breathing warmth of bread, delivered to you.

Together with bakers

YPAMPSHADE’s artisanal products cannot be made alone. Other people are there, day after day baking bread in kitchens before sunrise. A single croissant can vary in taste and shape depending on the store and the person who made it. Who made it? Where? What were they thinking when they baked it? We hope our products spark a hint of wonder with each unique encounter. We have the utmost respect for bakers, and it is with love that we seek to breathe new life into each unique piece of bread that arrives at our workshop daily.

Chasing the bread that never ceases to fascinate me

When I was a student working part-time at a bakery, I couldn't bear to see unsold bread being thrown away. Every day, I try to resist in small ways by holding them in my hands and taking them home to eat, displaying them in my room like arranging flowers, and handing them out to friends. One day, at dusk, I saw that the passing light of the setting sun hit the bread I had cut out and ate, and it shone beautifully in the darkened room. It was such a moment that I forgot the words and was so captivated by it. This was the root of the work ``Pumpshade,'' and it was also the starting point for me to decide what I wanted to do as an artist.Flour, salt, water, and yeast. When they meet human hands and fire, they become bread. The wide variety of breads that exist around the world reflect the unique history and culture of each country, and all of them are endearing. For me, bread is the most creative being in the world. I want to spread the appeal of bread in a way that only I can.Bread makes people happy again and again. When you touch the soft dough that is fermenting. When you see them rising vigorously and emitting a fragrant smell from the oven. When you tear apart freshly baked food with your hands and enjoy it. It is the moment when the joy of being alive resonates between us and bread. Through the creation of my works, I want to deliver such a moving moment to someone.
